Episode 13 - A Tax Ignites a Rebellion

Looking to increase their revenue to pay off war debts, Great Britain issued the Stamp Act in 1765—the first direct tax on their American colonies. The result was rioting, resistance, and rebellion from the colonists. Feeling the tax to be an attack on their speech and their self-government, they quickly came together, more unified than ever before, to reject Britain’s unprecedented assertion of authority.
